Classical music is making a change to keep audiences coming. Can Museums do the same? According to the CNN article we've shared below, a shift occurred during the last century in the way we think about, attend and enjoy cultural institutions such as the symphony. Things went from interactive and immersive, to stuffy, silent and inaccessible. And according to CNN, current generations aren't having it. Cultural attendance and membership has dropped. Millennials want to experience culture, not be lectured on it. A recent San Diego museum visitor put it best when she said: "People are visiting [museums] in their leisure time and if they feel they have to act like they are in a classroom, i.e. being quiet, having to study up on textbook-type catalogues to understand what the work of art represents, then they will probably choose a more casual activity."
