Guru Announces Partnership With The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens

We Got The Moves Like Jaguar

We consider ourselves lucky to be partnering with such an inspiring desert wildlife and conservation park. More than a zoo, The Living Desert, located in Palm Desert, California, actively works to preserve and support animals and plants of deserts from around the globe through education and appreciation. We are excited to create an app that supports and enhances the great work being done by amazing people at The Living Desert. Working in tandem with educators and zookeepers at The Living Desert, we will create a fully-branded app that helps visitors discover the funny, wacky, and compelling stories of the zoo's furry and feathered residents.  The location-aware app will be filled to the brim with engaging audio tours and interactive augmented reality features that combine discovery, curiosity, and education. A few weeks back, we spent three days touring the zoo, going behind-the-scenes, so that we could bring you interesting facts like...Pictured above, a sand cat at The Living Desert.

  • Giraffes have insanely long tongues that help them graze high up in the treetops. Did you know that a giraffe's tongue length corresponds to its height? Yup, that's right. That 18-foot-tall gentle skyscraper has a tongue that is 18 inches long!

  • We ventured into the commissary of The Living Desert where gourmet restaurant-quality meals are assembled for the animals. Keepers even go on veggie shopping sprees at Sprouts and Smart and Final to make sure animals get their favorite snacks!

  • Before The Living Desert got involved, there were only a few packs of Mexican wolves, or lobos, in the wild. TheLiving Desert Director of Conservation Peter Siminski led efforts to protect these badly misunderstood animals. Now, there are over a hundred lobos in their native habitat!

If we can help Vickie and Vinnie, the Eurasian vultures, our friend the Laughing Kookabura, or Mema, the baby jaguar in even a small way, we will have done our jobs. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with The Living Desert!

Mema the Baby Jaguar is currently a park favorite.

We got into a giggle fit with this Laughing Kookabura.
